Artist, Jackie Lipson, releases her newest single, Everything Sucks”

May 26, 2022 Live Music

Jackie Lipson is an LGBTQ+, neurodivergent songwriter and indie pop or as she called “sad pop” artist originally from South Windsor, Connecticut who fearlessly packed her bags and moved to Los Angeles, not knowing anyone who lived there. A coincidental meeting introduced her to Vanessa Wheeler, artist and guitarist professionally named VAVÁ and bassist/producer Francisco Ojeda, leading to an explosive debut single in 2020 “Someday”. As a Billboard featured artist Jackie Lipson has taken the music world by storm after first appearing on NBCUniversal’s “The Voice” the Indie Pop artist has gone on to have her music featured by global luxury brand Audemars Piguet as part of their 2021 music series, and has been cast as a songwriter for a reboot of a hit animated series set for release on Nickelodeon and Paramount+

Jackie’s 2020 debut EP “Someday” was celebrated by Spotify with features across the globe on multiple editorial playlists, and the young artist has gone on to collaborate with coveted musicians and producers. “Someday”  speaks to the generation of lost millennials who are really, really just trying their best and landed on Spotify’s Fresh Finds, New Music Friday Denmark, Music for a Workday, Billboard, Audemars Piguet’s and Chani Nicholas’ Cosmic playlists. Billboard called “Someday” a “soothing, lush slice of dream pop.” While in casting for another television opportunity, Jackie Lipson released singles, “Air After Rain”, “Stuck” as well as her hit single, “Someday”, re-imagined as a danceable remix by Shakur Ahmad (Remix credits: Glass Animals). Jackie’s vocals and her single “Someday” can be heard as part of Audemars Piguet’s 2021 music series entitled 180, episode 2, a glimpse into the collaborative music writing process.

“Jackie Lipson undoubtedly sounds like a pro” – Jon Ali, Billboard

Jackie Lipson dropped new single “Bully”  in July 2021, which premiered via 95.9 The Fox. Accompanying the song is the official video, directed by Outfest Fusion 2020 One Minute Film Grand Jury Award winner Mo McFadden. “Bully” calls out the negative inner voice as a manifestation of fear and shows it for what it really is, a “Bully” living in her own head.  Co-written and produced by Matt Lukasiewicz (Deep Chills, Le Boeuf, Brandon Colbein) and producer Paul Henri (American Idol, Pitch Perfect and Glee).

Jackie shares vital messages of LGBTQ+ joy and the vibrance of the Queer creative community by sharing space and creative works in her conversational series published by Autostraddle featuring Chani Nicholas, Victoria Canal, Jayli Wolf, and Mila Jam, to name a few.

About “Everything Sucks”: After embarking on a short U.S. and Canada tour in November and December of 2021, only to have the Canada leg cancelled due to omicron, Jackie turned cancellation into opportunity by beginning to write and record “Everything Sucks”. Filled with gripping vocal harmonies, Jackie’s incredible range, and live guitar is reminiscent of the early 2000 pop-punk era, “Everything Sucks” tackles what Jackie refers to as toxic positivity – the notion that people need to push through their negative or sad feelings and disregard the weight of their problems. “Everything Sucks” offers a moment of reprieve in the face of the wide-ranging societal pressure to act like everything is normal. With its captivating chorus and hard to forget melody, “Everything Sucks” is a relatable, much needed anthem for everyone who feels the overwhelm and pressure of the state of the world today.

“Sometimes it feels like Everything Sucks, and lately it’s been overwhelming!”, says Jackie, “we are surviving a Global Pandemic, the wake of a disastrous Presidency, a new war, Global Heating, grave racial injustice – and those are just the highlights! Everything Sucks is an invitation to scream into the void/let it all out. When shit becomes too much, it’s normal to feel rage and despair. This song is a “F U” to toxic positivity, to systems that disregard our humanity and to the parts of ourselves that need to get out of the way and let us grieve.” – Jackie Lipson

Jackie has just released her first single of 2022, a powerful, indie anthem entitled “Everything Sucks“. The tune is an ode to accepting our feelings and was written in response to what Jackie calls, “toxic positivity”. The song has a nostalgic, early 2000’s sound, incorporating the musicality of artists like Avril Lavigne and Fefe Dobson with layered harmonies featuring Jackie’s incredible vocal range. “Everything Sucks” has just been released on May 6, 2022.
