4th Annual Music Expo in Mississauga.

SATURDAY JANUARY 25th Music Expo held its annual event at the Mississauga Convention Centre presented my Mark and http://www.generalmayhem.ca https://www.musicexpo.ca

I have to confess this was my 1st Music Expo and I was thoroughly impressed. Great turn out of fans and all aged music lovers. Revolving entertainment was never-ending including meet and greets with vendors and artists alike. We found stellar deals on quality band merch with a company called AGORIA Productions and they are located in Toronto and let me tell you they print on toques, t’s, pins, to hoodies and so much more at down to earth prices. Blew my mind to find out that their services don’t stop there. They handle merchandising of flyers, business cards, they do state of the art recording and they book and promote shows all over Toronto and are a company by artists for artists. Located at 3875 Chesswood Drive, stay in tune by visiting them at info@agoria.ca or http://www.agoria.ca and (647) 526-0519

If you were in the need of adding to your LP collection, they had rare finds to purchases there. If you wanted to inquire from songwriting to purchasing in-ear monitors they had professionals in both satisfy your need. They had a Karaoke booth and the talent that projected there was mind blowing.

It was so nice to catch up with friends of mine celebrity Michael Williams (Much Music fame) and SPOONS founder, guitarist and lead vocalist, as well, he is the guitarist for A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS, that’s right Mr. Gord Deppe.

We snapped a quick pic seen here, prior to his booth location. Gord is a repeat meet and greets artist year after year with Music Expo since its conception and his table was quite consumed all afternoon and took me quite a while to get to pick up SPOONS newest masterpiece album, NEW DAY NEW WORLD. If you haven’t picked this baby up, it’s a must-have to complete your collection. https://www.spoonsmusic.com/new-day-new-world is their 7th studio album and their 1st studio album release in 8 years and what a stupendous CD.

This 7th release carries the band’s earlier edgy electro 80s pop new wave sounds of their largest hits catapulting into 2019, a back to the future feel. Song ‘The First and Last Time’ has a unique video released and has made its rounds being nominated in 35 Film Festivals around the globe even as far away as France to right here in Toronto at T.I.F.F’s Festival in 2019, and they won 10 of the 35! Momentum in full swing their 2nd single ‘All The Wrong Things In The Right Places’ video has already been selected at 15 festivals and won at 6 and their year hasn’t even barely begun. Celebrating their milestone 40th musical anniversary and as always, never idle, their expected cross country tour begins and some of the original members will join them as they perform remixes of classics as well, special commemorative merch is on sale with surprises to be expected. Congrats Gord, Sandy, Casey MQ, Chris McNeil, Johnny Matusiak, and all involved with the 40th Anniversary Tour 2020, where they appear Feb. 22nd Deerfoot Inn & Casino Calgary Alberta, followed by Feb. 28th at River Cree Resort & Casino in Enoch Alberta, then off to Vancouver’s Hard Rock Casino landing down in Waterloo at Maxwell’s Concerts on Fri. March 6th the off to Oshawa on March 7th at The Music Hall, JUNE 20th TBA, Aug. 8th Rock The Lake Fest in Kelowna BC, and Aug. 15th Rock The River Fest in Saskatoon. Back in May of 2018, I met this positive hard-working young pop star at The Rockpile in Toronto, upon her 12 date cross Canada tour, this was the closest to her stomping’ grounds that she got on this adventure, she sure rocked my socks off. I knew I had to remain connected as she had something special, she was going places. She crossed over into the Country realm and it fits her vocal abilities like honey to a bee. Engaging the eager audience with her strong sound truly coming from her heart. Her songs simply timeless and her energy is infectious.

She wears her heart on her sleeve and writes songs based on her real-life experiences, is a proud supporter of all causes with emphasis on anxiety, depression, and anti-bulling, which gravitates with many including myself.

She makes a difference with her soothing tunes, in the lives of many who suffer these ailments and her timing and release of her brand new hit at radio and streaming sources, reiterates a warm and reassuring message for us all, that it’s ok not to be ok and if we need to, we can ‘Cry.’

The release of this brand new single has been a smash sensation with her ever-growing audiences around the world. She perfected her set complete with her 1st single to Country with Turn It Up, 2nd country released tune Drive and surprised us with an unreleased song she penned On My Own and closing her stage with newly aired ‘Cry’ This is just the beginning for our internationally acclaimed singer, songwriter, recording artist, actor, Youtube star, and graphic designer Bree Taylor. Bree will be performing several live shows across Ontario including The Social Pub (295 George St N, Peterborough, ON K9J 3H3) on February 21st, 2020; the Cowbell Brewing Co. (40035 Blyth Rd, Blyth, ON N0M 1H0) on February 28th, 2020; and at Free Times Café (320 College St, Toronto, ON M5T 1S3) on March 28th, 2020. Stay in tune at https://www.breetaylor.com

I got to visit briefly with a name I have been waiting to cross off my bucket list. Years ago I got to meet a childhood entertainer hero of mine Fred Penner which left me with 1 more hero to meet. Sharon, Lois, and Bram are a legendary Canadian music group founded in Toronto back in 1978, that shaped and still continues to shape 42 years later, the children’s educational entertainment sector. Meeting Sharon Hampson was a huge thrill. Not only was SLB stables growing up for me among Sesame Street, Raffi, and Fred Penner, all who helped me grow and heal but her status and accolades have always impressed me. She is not just a singer, dancer, actress but she is a multi Juno award-winning international superstar who is an honored Order of Canada and Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal recipient. In May 2019, a children’s picture book called Sharon, Lois and Bram’s Skinnamarink is based on the group’s hit song, “Skinnamarink” which is a timeless anthem of love and inclusion. was released in September of 2019. Album Sharon & Bram and Friends is available NOW. With the passing of Lois Lilienstein April 22nd, 2015, Hampson and Morrison never idle and continue 42 years later to perform as Sharon and Bram. Most recently in 2019, SLB were the latest to receive the honor of Mariposa Folk Festival Hall of Fame. Stay in tune at http://www.sharonloisandbram.com and http://www.sharonandbram.com

This is their ONLY single for now off their upcoming album that drops March 20, 2020. This song is about the fight against climate change and the impacts it has on our future and how if world leaders continue to ignore the signs it will ultimately be our doom. As well, Demolition Rage http://www.demolitionrage.com are working hard on Album #3 and have a high profile performance April 24th at Peel Region’s hottest food and live entertainment venue at Spot 1 Grill and Music Hall 289 Rutherford Road in Brampton 9pm as they kick the night into high gear followed by Durty Little Secrets who are in direct support of Canadian hard rockin’ 2 time Juno nominated, Much Music awarded and Gold selling artists, Sven Gali.
