“With that smooth, emotive voice, we could listen to Don Amero sing all day long.” – Eat North Toronto, ON (September 24, 2021) – Nothing Is Meaningless, the new EP from multi-JUNO Award nominee Don Amero is out today via MDM Recordings Inc./Universal Music Canada. Amero delivers a seven-song collection that traverses a multitude of genres, but at the heart of it all it is a country album, and nothing gets to the root of that more than his new single ‘My Poor Mama’, at radio now. Written by Corey Crowder, James McNair, Jordan Schmidt, and Jaren Johnston – lead singer of famed Nashville trio The Cadillac Three – ‘My Poor Mama’ is teeming with classic country twang and flush with the iconic storytelling the genre is known for. Amero calls it an “ode to all the Mamas who put everything into raising their babies, even though sometimes those babies grow up and put their Mamas through hell.”

“We often go through our days wondering what it all means,” shares Amero re Nothing Is Meaningless. “It’s hard to put the pieces together most days, but I tend to lean more on the side of trusting that there’s some meaning or learning in it all. I truly love each song on this EP because I feel a strong connection to them. It feels like they are each a piece of my story. I hope you find a quiet spot to throw on some headphones and hear where I am at these days.”

The previously released ‘You Can’t Always Be 21’ saw Amero’s profile skyrocket as he made appearances on The Marilyn Denis Show, ET Canada, Etalk, Your Morning, the CCMA Awards national broadcast, and more. One of his most poignant moments to date, however, came earlier this year when Amero, who is of Cree and Métis heritage, was asked to sing the Canadian national anthem at the Winnipeg Jets playoff game immediately following the initial discovery of the 215 Indigenous children at the residential school in Kamloops.

After much deliberation, the resulting performance saw Amero accompanied by elders Wally and Karen Swain, delivering a stirring and reflective version of ‘Oh Canada’ that brought many to tears, with the Globe and Mail stating “Amero taught me something that resonates today, which is that the power of love, of resilience, of dignity, always conquers bitterness.”

An engaging storyteller, singer-songwriter, performer, and three-time JUNO Award nominee, Amero has been tirelessly touring, performing, and speaking across Canada for the last decade, earning the respect and attention of the Canadian music industry and fans alike. With the rare ability to effortlessly and genuinely connect with his audience, Amero has taken the skills he utilizes on stage and applied them to his advocacy work within Indigenous communities and beyond, including his participation as a youth mentor for the Winnipeg Jets and True North Youth Foundation’s ‘Project 11’. An avid public speaker, Amero created the ‘Music Is Medicine’ workshop, presenting the impact and power music has mentally and physically, and he now serves as the first-ever advisor and Chair of the CCMA Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Next up, Amero is set to host the Manitoba Country Music Association Awards, where he is also up for SIX awards himself including Male Artist of the Year.
