What a tight 4 piece unit! Their accurate musical accounts of historical measures were stupendous as they set the stage ablaze while engaging the full house audience upon their stroll thru rock history. Truly encompassing the hottest classic rock covers spanning 1980 through 2000 eras, featuring Bush’s Machine Head, Feliz Franz Ferdinad’s Take Me Out, Collective Soul’s Shine, The Jet’s ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl, and Plush from Stone Temple Pilots. Drummer extraordinaire, Kevin Rajpaulsingh, debuted his chops on a stellar cover version of Dead Heart from Midnight Oil’s 87’ album Diesel and Dust, and closing the set with their version of Rockin’ in the Free World (from Neil Young’s 1989 Freedom CD). Next up, energizer bunnies Cadillac Socks, wow! I was editing photos as they began, and bam, up went my head, quickly switching over to video and my eyes were fixed. When a band grabs your attention that strongly, as they had me, you got something. I looked to the audience as everyone crowded the dance floor, as their skater punk covers and originals were infectious. Filled with addictive and passionate creativity, lead singer/guitarist Chris Gibbons opened up his heart vault announcing the next song he penned, was dedicated to his wife whom he lost to cancer. My eyes were filled with tears as Chris lead Shawn Crowley, Tyler Gibbons, and Matt Milner through the explosive original Time Machine. Follow them at

CONGRATS to Canada’s longest running and authentic sounding AC/DC Tribute act Hells Bells Canada on reaching their 25th year in the music biz! H.B.C projected a stunning reproductive set consisting of a magically enriched and hypnotically laced AC/DC staples Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Shoot to Thrill, Girls Got Rhythm, If You Want Blood, You’ve Got It, Back in Black, Hells Bells, You Shook Me All Night Long, Money Talks.

First tribute act I ever saw in a bar was Hells Bells Canada back in 1994 at The Albion Hotel in Gravenhurst, what a treat it was for me 25 years later to personally witness their growth into 1 of the truest form of quality entertainment known around the globe. Photo of lead guitarist
Chris Tomchak by Deb Draper.

Electrifying! Blending together stellar musical structures, momental stage presence with fantastic expressions, equating to one dedicated and authentic display of masterful musicians rendering a dramatic showcase. Fans crowded the stage as Jamie Bath, Chris Tomchak, Sean Taylor, Mark Ferreira and Franklin Wyles conjured a bang on sound alike set keeping the songs of world-renowned pioneering innovators AC/DC alive. Goosebumps were plentiful as frontman Jamie let the audience sing loud and proud as he strutted about in between vocals and playing his bagpipes on It’s A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock and Roll).

Achieving that mystical 25-year milestone as 1 of the top North American entertainers is outstanding enough, but, add the mesmerizing acknowledgments of Phil Rudd from AC/DC stating “Hells Bells Rocks” and “Very Close to the Real Thing” inserted Mike Scarfe (AC/DC Sound Tech) is stupendous. HBC compares to that of good wine or a hearty steak that wets and satisfies your rock n roll hunger. Bursting into an awe-inspiring crowd pleaser upon their last song leaving us Thunderstruck. HELLS BELL CANADA ‘NEWS’ they will be on following the personifying KID ROCK at ROXODUS MUSIC FESTIVAL next month on Sat. July 13th. Make sure you get your tickets @ and don’t delay capture Hells Bells Canada at the after party at the Crazy Town Saloon stage.

Icon Dave Evans shot by Deb Draper

11:15 pm marked a historical moment in time! The original voice of AC/DC’s legendary rock trailblazer Dave Evans, strolled us through an impressive chunk of Rock n Roll history with his originals while also paying homage to first ever released ACDC hits during an up-close rare and personal performance featuring 3/4 of Canada’s longest-running AC/DC Tribute-Hells Bells Canada with Chris Tomchak on lead guitar, Sean Taylor on rhythm guitar, drummer Franklin Wyles and sub in professional touring bassist Mark Smalczewski . To capture the truest essence of iconic Dave Evans, is like capturing an infinite measure, both a creative workbook and an authoritative reference. His stage presence is profoundly moving and a pertinent one. What truly caught my eye behind the lens, was his volcanic stamina and impeccable shape and his monumental energy. Dave’s grandiose stage presence and overpowering expression of his musical indentation showing no signs of slowing down, projecting that signature Dave Evans and AC/DC flavor.  It was amazing to witness this legend rock n rollicking all over that stage, unscathed and in full breath, one genuine rocker showing us how it is done.  I simply adore this artist as he truly stands out, while he sports a compelling attractiveness that inspires others. His dedication and musical drive is his secret to longevity. Hells Bells Canada toured dates as the supporting band on Dave’s 1st ever tour of Ontario. Canada Tour 2019 kicked off in Quebec on April 24th at Le L’Dauteuil Theatre, Petite Campus in Montreal on April 25th with The Rockpile on 26th, May 2nd Club Soda Rouyn Quebec, May 3rd Asylium Sudbury, May 4th Rockstars Sault Ste Marie, May 9th Overtime Sports Bar Kingston, Oshawa on May 11th at The Music Hall Concert Theatre Presented by Blackrose Entertainment. They ripped right into the 1st 2 debut AC/DC songs ever recorded with Dave Evans back in 74: Can I Sit Next to You Girl and Rockin in the Parlour. Take Me Down Again followed right into Go Wild, Sold My Soul To Rock N Roll, Rock n Roll or Bust with covers House of the Rising Son and Baby Please Don’t Go (by Joe Williams/Muddy Waters). The audience went crazy and participated in a sing-along during TNT, Highway To Hell, Let There Be Rock and the explosive ENCORE of Whole Lotta Rosie.

Here are the original 5 members of AC/DC with their flags of their birth countries. Dave Evans is from Wales, the Young brothers are from Scotland, drummer Colin Burgess is from Australia, and bassist Larry Van Kriedt is from the USA though AC/DC was formed in
Sydney Australia.

I have included a brief bio here for our younger readership who are interested in getting to know more about Mr. Evans. He formed his first band in Session in the Charters Towers when he was 17, he then moved to Sydney where he found the “Blues” and helped found Blues/Rock band N.O.B., later joining Sydney’s top cover band Velvet Underground. Not too long thereafter, destiny called when Dave answered an ad for a hard rock singer and low and behold it was Malcolm Young on the other end of that phone, (who was also a former member of Velvet Underground), and Dave was recruited to form a new band at that time with Malcolm, Colin Burgess, Larry Van Kriedt and a week later Malcolm’s younger brother Angus joined. Malcolm and Angus’ sister-in-law Sandra came up with the name AC/DC – to signify power and energy – hence, the rest they say is history and rock n roll would never be the same with AC/DC becoming 1 of the greatest rock and roll bands ever born! Dave was a member of the band for a year before turning over the helm to Bon Scott in 1974. This magnificant talent has never been idol since 1974 with his career in music, expanding into acting even becoming an honorary Police Officer in Tenaha, Texas. Join Dave on Facebook to learn all about this phenomenal music entity. The photo below is 1 of the 1st ACDC band captures with Dave Evans in stripes on left.
