Live Music Reviews from Around Ontario

On March 6th, Lukas Rossi struck that healing chord once again.

March 4, 2022 Live Music

Another fascinatingly appealing showcase of pieces so tenderly delivered with that addictive melody and freshness that you have come to expect within his musical abilities. As he explores his acoustic diversity while expressing versions of his ever-growing greatest hit list blended in with those superb crowd-pleasing covers and a BRAND new song too, truly making for 1 outstanding 50-minute show that feature a 30-minute performance and a 20-minute ENCORE that totally exemplifies his significant talent.

Rossi kicked the night off and set that hauntingly deep tone for the night with renditions inside a mashup combining blends of both Police’s Wrapped Around Your Finger into Prince’s When Doves Cry. Diving right in with Sunnie Days. as she joined him in the studio while sharing vocals on their co-written song Paper Heart (2021 Autonomic album). Incorporating his warm and magnificent version of covers like U2’s With or Without You into a BRAND NEW song, Perfect World, we were the first to hear this original that was co-written by Lukas and Amanda Nail. Next, Rossi engaged us as he expressed his original Erasing the Pain (Autonomic Album 2021). Lukas made my eyes pop right out of my skull as he surprised us with another stellar cover, but this one was my all-time favorite song, Wicked Game by Chris Isaak. Highly requested Proof of Life (Autonomic album) was next and dedicated to Matty Shreds. I adored his combo of originals with his hit Superman (2020 album Summertime) melted into his Dead Flower (2007 Love and Lust EP). Brilliantly blended combos followed with his original I Fall Apart (Autonomic album) with a cover of Radiohead’s High and Dry (1995 The Bends album). Lukas did an angelic rendition of Black Crows’ She Talks to Angels into his original Playing With Fire and that led right into the last 3 of the night, Blue (Runnin), Autonomic into Radio Head’s Street Spirit (Fade Out).

Translating my observation into a written expression, the words just flow like fine wine, as there are so many exciting and essential features to talk about after watching a hypnotic Lukas Rossi performance.

Lukas’s relevant weekly shows have become a welcomed necessity through these unprecedented times of this awful worldwide pandemic and now WAR time. So many fans are in constant struggle through their week, like me, and look forward to that magical Lukas Rossi musical medicinal dose or fix if you will, as he has this extraordinary way of boosting your spirits, lifting the heavy-hearted and he actually contributes to lightening one’s pain levels as well. That is one reason I simply look forward to watching how his essence grabs the audience’s attention, as he elaborates his notes on most of his songs, how he reaches those stratospheric moments that you just say, “yep, that’s it, that’s what I longed to hear!”

One thing I adore observing every time is Lukas’s confidence, his heart, his emotions expressed so fluidly and openly, and how he engages as he interacts during and post shows with his fans!

Stageit makes this the perfect platform for Lukas and other dedicated and hard-working musicians that love their fans. It allows the audience members to tip the performer in various ways and Lukas offered his top supporters a separate private 3 song zoom performance followed by an afterparty for the top supporters! You just don’t see too many musicians offering this type of perk for their fans even before COVID.

Artists work day and night to create songs that touch, heal, uplift, and inspire those that watch or attend shows in person or virtually, and fans come to depend on those songs and the artist for comfort and the same goes back in return for artists getting the love and support they deserve. His inner beauty shines brightly through his music, that is what music is all about…connecting with the audience and supporting each other, and Lukas has quite the faithfully awesome undying love, and support from his devoted global fans base with a strong bond forged between himself and his Rossi Posse, cause in point, last night was a double sell-out, meaning the first allotment of tickets sold-out and added tickets were permitted and those sold-out as well, totally priceless!

Never cease blowing our minds LR, and thank you for including me as I got to enjoy and reflect on your powerful magic once again Lukas. Cheers, xoxo Deb – The Wire MEGAzine.
