Public figure (iconic Q107 personality), public announcer/MC Junior LeClerc got the momentum going as he introduced rising star, Montreal’s Manny Blu as he kicked off the night, setting the tone for the evening with a cover version of Tim McGraw’s BBQ Stain followed by a smoking hot original (mom-approved favorite) Lookin Forward to Looking Back from his 1st EP Leave It Like ItIs, just released in early 2019.

He flourished the audience with his radio single Like it Like That. Shared his unreleased hit Before Somebody Else Does, and his 1st ever released song It’s In My Heart and a Luke Combs tune When It Rains It Pours.

George mesmorized his fans with his hits Daughters of the Sun, perfected a song George wrote with Dean Brody 20 years ago called Good Day To Ride, and sprung his newest hit Out of This Town on the audience with mind blowing reception. Canyon’s fans were hungry for more and he obliged with fan favorites I Believe in Angels. Wished his beautiful wife a happy anniversary regarding their milestone quarter of a century date on June 25!

George then stated, “I wrote this song for my wife, as we celebrate being married 25 years. She is my best friend in all the world. She is the reason I stand before you today, she saved my life 27 years ago, so I owe a debt of gratitude and she still loves me no matter what this business brought.  So I wrote this song for her when we were dating a few years back and when we were first married we didn’t have a pot to pee in, but, we knew we had to work at our marriage. So we put our babies to bed including Kale, who is my son, who is with us tonight on tour, he was just in diapers then, you should’ve seen him so cute, (audiences ahhhs)…..I am gonna embarrass the hell out of him tonight. Soooo, my wife and I went into the living room that night and shared a slow dance and that made such a difference, so I wrote this song for her, and it goes out to all the couples in love and to the old couples this is for you called Slow Dance.“

George Canyon perfected his Just Like You and my favorite Drinkin’ Thinkin. Which lead to a singer-songwriter segment as George said, “we are in a rock bar” as Charlie Major broke into a Beatles song Twist and Shout. George asked Doc Walker to sing their fun version of Happy Birthday to fan Dianne with the tiara and pink boa. As well, George introduced his band to us featuring the Toronto Beaches highly sought after bassist extraordinaire John Martini Diamond, with powerhouse Jay Buettner on Guitar and i apologize here as I list the energetic drummer and smooth stylings of steel guitarist-who both names remain nameless as I was not able to obtain their names. George announced the next song as they covered Richard Marks penned hit Surrender that went to the top 5 for George Canyon.

Canyon announced, ” it’s like the perfect kitchen party tune, one you have to participate and 2nd keep your clothing on…any Johnny Reid fans in the audience tonight? Well, he gave us a song that went to number 5, breaking into hit Sunshine. ”

George Canyon said, “in 29 years in this career, I have the greatest fans in the world! I live in the greatest world in Canada, because of fans like you guys giving me Gold and Platinum Records, I get to have this career here at home. This song is for you” as they strolled us thru chart-topper Somebody Wrote Love.

Doc Walker’s Chris Thorsteinson and Dave Wasyliw mounted the stage with a cover of Genesis That’s All, followed by their originals I’m Gonna Make You Love Me, and The Show Is Free. Then GC, CM, and DW projected explosive covers made famous by Dukes of Hazzard, yep, that’s right, Waylon Jennings hit Good Ol Boys, shining right into Johnny Horton tune The Battle of New Orleans. Sporting over 20 Top 10 singles, Doc Walker is one of the most recognized Canadian country acts of the past two decades. The group has received multiple Canadian Country Music Awards, including Fans’ Choice, Group or Duo of the Year, CMT Video of the Year, Single of the Year, and Country Music Program or Special of the Year. In addition, Doc Walker has been nominated for several JUNO Awards for Country Album of the Year. They shared a few more of their most famous hits Beautiful Life, Rocket Girl, and If I Fall, just name but a few. http://www.docwalker.ca

Charlie Major is a true Canadian legend. He has sold nearly half a million records in Canada alone, and has been the recipient of 3 Juno Awards and 7 CCMA Awards. Rising to the forefront of the Canadian Music scene in the early to mid-nineties, Major holds the distinction of having six consecutive #1 hits (every single released) off his debut album. Sporting 7 studio albums, 2 greatest hits albums, and 32 radio singles, to date, and going strong. George introduced Charlie as Mr. Major engaged us with his first #1 in Canada – I’m Gonna Drive You Out of My Mind, next he introduced us to a song as he says,

“I wrote this at a job I had once and once was enough, most of you guys can relate to this” as he burst into his largest hit in my mind, I Do It For the Money, he also announced the 25thanniversary of his #1 hit single It Can’t Happen To Me proceeds from this hit goes in order to raise money for Mother’s Against Drunk Driving, now known as MADD Canada. Cranking out fan fave originals like Back Roads, The Other Side, Life’s Too Short, joining in on a cover with George, Doc Walker and the boys in the band with Waylon Jennings Good Hearted Woman, and Encore as Manny Blu joined everyone on stage for a ripping version of John Cash’s Ring of Fire.

Huge congratulations to Charlie Major on being inducted into the Canadian Country Music Association’s Hall of Fame! This is so deserving to a man who shares and wears his heart and soul on his sleeve and lets it shine inside his music. http://www.charliemajor.com
