George then stated, “I wrote this song for my wife, as we celebrate being married 25 years. She is my best friend in all the world. She is the reason I stand before you today, she saved my life 27 years ago, so I owe a debt of gratitude and she still loves me no matter what this business brought. So I wrote this song for her when we were dating a few years back and when we were first married we didn’t have a pot to pee in, but, we knew we had to work at our marriage. Soooo, my wife and I went into the living room that night and shared a slow dance and that made such a difference, so I wrote this song for her, and it goes out to all the couples in love and to the old couples this is for you called Slow Dance.“

George Canyon perfected his Just Like You and my favorite Drinkin’ Thinkin. Which lead to a singer-songwriter segment as George said, “we are in a rock bar” as Charlie Major broke into a Beatles song Twist and Shout. George asked Doc Walker to sing their fun version of Happy Birthday to fan Dianne with the tiara and pink boa. As well, George introduced his band to us featuring the Toronto Beaches highly sought after bassist extraordinaire John Martini Diamond, with powerhouse Jay Buettner on Guitar and i apologize here as I list the energetic drummer and smooth stylings of steel guitarist-who both names remain nameless as I was not able to obtain their names. George announced the next song as they covered Richard Marks penned hit Surrender that went to the top 5 for George Canyon.


Canyon announced, ” it’s like the perfect kitchen party tune, one you have to participate and 2nd keep your clothing on…any Johnny Reid fans in the audience tonight? Well, he gave us a song that went to number 5, breaking into hit Sunshine. ”
George Canyon said, “in 29 years in this career, I have the greatest fans in the world! This song is for you” as they strolled us thru chart-topper Somebody Wrote Love.

Doc Walker’s Chris Thorsteinson and Dave Wasyliw mounted the stage with a cover of Genesis That’s All, followed by their originals I’m Gonna Make You Love Me, and The Show Is Free. Then GC, CM, and DW projected explosive covers made famous by Dukes of Hazzard, yep, that’s right, Waylon Jennings hit Good Ol Boys, shining right into Johnny Horton tune The Battle of New Orleans. Sporting over 20 Top 10 singles, Doc Walker is one of the most recognized Canadian country acts of the past two decades.
