REVIEW: THE COLLECTIVE R & B

March 30, 2017 Live Music No Comments
Staying in TUNE with
The Collective R & B
The full house Orbit Room welcomed The Collective R & B performance on March 23rdand sure was tasty just like a mouth watering T-Bone steak. They performed popular hits that sure were meaty and full of flavor. Consisting of one hearty gathering of delicious and well seasoned musical talents. This magical splendor was a walk down memory lane show filled with juicy blues R & B covers from this powerful 6 piece band.
This showcase featured the soulful stage presence twined together with the silky and sultry soulful bluesy jazz vocals of the ever beautiful Lisa Hutchinson as she even channeled
right into a Janis Joplin style.

Combined with the sleek and sexy sounds of non other than Canada’s top blues sax man, Richard Thornton on his tenor sax and flute (The Jack de Keyzer Blues Band), mix in the heavy
textured meat and potatoes of the rhythm section.

The Collective R & B founder and drummer Joey Dimarco for 46 years, has been recognized as an internationally acclaimed drummer extraordinaire.  www.joeydrumsdimarco.com
Including some smooth guitar hooks and grooves mixed with the stellar vocals of the outstanding passionate being who has a huge heart and a beautifully warm smile, who has recorded and performed with a vast array of acts like Helix’s Brian Vollmer, pop singer Amy Sky, country singers Beverly Mahood and Jamie Warren & Daniel has opened for Colin James and Cowboy Junkies and performed for Rod Stewart at Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto.  DD is a Music Producer, Teacher, Performer, Voice Actor & founder of Davies Music Academy.

Pour in the deep warm tones of the heavily sought after “Bass Guy At Large and Audio Engineer” Neil Numinnen www.neilnumminen.com and add the connected telltale R & B rich color on keys with the incredibly high energetic Gabor Szepesi (The Arrows, The Groove Project).  Crowd favorites were perfectly delivered, one hit right after the other, like Born Under a Bad Sign, I Heard It Through the Grapevine, 7 Day Fool, There’s a Devil on the Loose (Mavis Staples), I Put a Spell on You (Queen Latifah), Chain of Fools, I Just Want To Make Love to You (Cold Blood), House of the Rising Son, Voodoo Woman (Susan Tedeschi), Pride and Joy, Sweet Home Chicago just to name but a few.  Truly captivating this full revved up Orbit Room audience, who were dying to just get up and jump jive, truly making this awe inspiring and out of this world.

Highlight moment was witnessing gifted singer-actress June Garber approach Lisa Hutchinson and
held her face and looked into her eyes, telling her what a beautiful performance Lisa, then the 2 welcomed a few photos by yours truly.

Stay in tune with this incredible act that will be performing in a town nearest
                    you, https://www.facebook.com/collectiveTORONTO/?fref=ts
