WINNERS – Mississauga Music Awards 2021.
Mississauga – the 6th largest city in Canada – boasts a growing music scene with immense potential. Having been the launching pad of international success stories such as Billy Talent, illScarlett, Jill Barber, Rick Emmett, Rich Kidd, Suzie McNeil and Triumph to name a few, there is a new generation of emerging local talent.
We aim to create an integrated platform that will feature the next wave of artists in effort to highlight our city on a national scale.
The 5th Annual Mississauga Music Awards took place September 25th, 2021, for the second year virtually, held at the Living Arts Center -LAC in Mississauga. They commenced the ceremony with the Peel Treaty Land Acknowledgement of the Mississaugas of the credit for the Anishinaabe, Huron-Wendat, the Haudenosaunee Territory, and the Ojibwa Peoples, home of the Metis & Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.

City of Mississauga’s Music Development Officer, Corey Poole, presented from the Living Arts Centre LAC, mentioning this Mark’s the 2nd virtual year in a row and reminded us to celebrate resilience, determination, passion, and creativity.

- Winner of the Producer of the Year went to Kevin Deets and he was presented a prize awarded from Modern Mississauga Media with a prize to be featured inside the magazine.

2. Best Online Content presented by Music Expo went to Mississauga Symphony Orchestra and accepted by Music Director of Mississauga Symphony Orchestra, Denis Mastromonaco, winning a spot on main stage at Music Expo 2022.

3. Best Local Promoter went to Music Expo where they received tickets to the Marty’s Awards and a MAC membership for a year presented by Mississauga Arts Council.

4. Best Live Artist/Band went to Alessia Cole and she received the $500 gift certificate by Long & McQuade.
Sara Conwall from Metal Works Studios announced that Metal Works Studios and Mississauga Arts Council we’re proud to launch the 2021 1st ever Sauga’s Summer Songwriting Contest and they chose a winner for the hottest summer song going to Adina V.
5. Musician of the Year went to Deric Joson presented a $500 gift certificate by Long & McQuade.
6. Songwriter of the Year went to David Leask presented in a full feature inside Modern Mississauga Media.

7. Peterborough’s very own songbird won the next award for Song of the Year for her hit FREE! Yes, we’re talkin Elyse Saunders and she received a four-hour vocal session by Metal Works Studio.

Then Elyse Saunders performed her huge radio hit, Sunshine State of Mind, making her a two-time Mississauga Music Award Winner.
8. Best New Solo Artist Award was presented by Canadian Music Week with a prize of VIP passes to CMW 2022 and the winner was Mike Cans.
9. Best New Group went to Allydice taking home their very first music award and it was presented by Canadian Music Week a prize of VIP passes to see CMW 2022.
10. Video of the Year went to Fame Holiday tsking home a prize of tickets to the Marty’s Awards and a MAC membership for 2022, presented by Mississauga Arts Council. He dedicated this award to his Grama who passed away today, Sept. 25, 2021.

11. Album of the Year presented by CCAI went to Aley Veliz with a spot on stage at Rock The Coliseum 2022.
12. Artist of the Year went to Johnny Orlando, another first-time winner with a prize of 4 hour vocal session at Metalworks Studios all the way from Italy.

13. FANS Choice Award went to Dani Kristina with a prize of performing at Rock The Coliseum 2022 presented by CCAI.
